My Cup Overflows: Testimonies and Prayer

The following prayer notices are translated from the Traditional Chinese page.

Unity in the Church

Pray for unity, growth in love, and the courage to step beyond our comfort zone to share the gospel with local friends.

Employment and Driving Tests

Pray for brothers and sisters who are looking for work or preparing for driving tests. May the Lord give them strength and wisdom and open the way ahead.

Those Who Are Unwell

Pray for Lisa, Elize, Mendel’s mother, Teacher Mak, Brother Fan Yongsong and every brother and sister in Telford. May God protect their physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Giving for a Church Building and a Pastor

Pray for support for the building purchase and the appointment of a pastor, and for willing hearts to tithe. Giving directly by bank transfer can enable the church to receive tax relief. Brothers and sisters with a National Insurance number are encouraged to complete a Gift Aid form and submit it to BCEC’s finance team. The notice proposes that when monthly tithes from Telford reach £1,200, the current Sunday offering collection will give way to voluntary giving through an offering box.

Sunday Sermons and Speakers

Pray for the messages and for speakers travelling to Telford. May the Holy Spirit reveal the Lord’s will, deepen our commitment and give us a wider vision of his kingdom.

Pray for Krister’s theological studies. The notice records preparations for an August Greek examination as the first term draws to a close, followed by a new term in September with placements and evangelistic ministry. The congregation is also exploring AI interpreting headsets to help people understand sermons more clearly.

Appointing a Pastor and Sunday School

Pray for the proposed formation of a deacons’ council or pastoral search committee in September, and for agreement on initial criteria such as living in Telford, holding a driving licence and speaking Mandarin and Cantonese. The notice asks for support from BCEC’s Cantonese pastors to provide one Cantonese speaker each month.

It also records an invitation to Kevin Du, a Cantonese-speaking preacher based in Nottingham, to preach on 6 September. Pray for the new Sunday School year and for its headteacher, teachers and assistants.

The Kingdom Hall Purchase

Pray for the proposed purchase of Kingdom Hall. This notice records that, despite another offer, the seller was willing to wait. The BCEC trustees met on 11 July without reaching a decision, with further discussion planned by the pastoral team after colleagues returned from leave.

Ricky, Ah Chung and Tianqiang completed Chinese and English building purchase proposals and sent them to the trustees. The proposed presentations were: Ricky to the English congregation, Wenzhi and Ah Chung to two Cantonese congregations each, and Tianqiang to the Mandarin congregation, so that members could understand the proposal before the EGM vote.
